SANA First Fall Trip to Kfaribnine 4 October 2016

The changing leaves were everywhere casting brilliant reflections along SANA’s route to the Dinnieh mountain tops today as SANA’s team returned for another medical/educational mission. Accompanying SANA was trainee midwife Rayan Mayta.

As is customary, the clinic was filled with patients and the day commenced with an educational session for the patients by SANA’s Reem S. Abu-Rustum who addressed various pregnancy and non-pregnancy related myths. An open discussion ensued where the patients had the chance to get various concerns addressed.

Following the session, SANA’s team carried out full assessments on the patients inclusive of sonographic evaluation. It was midwife Rayan who carried out the scans today under the guidance of SANA’s Reem S. Abu-Rustum. She was able to demonstrate comfort and skill in the 6-steps approach and she obtained biometric measurements in the proper planes.

Today’s patients ranged in age between 22 to 39 years. Most were in the 4h to 9th month of pregnancy, 65% were on pregnancy 4 or more and 47% had had no prenatal care or a maximum of 1 prenatal visit thus far. SANA redated 41% of the patients seen.

SANA wishes to thank Mr. Dory Mansour and Levant Alie Houses SAL for providing all nutritional supplements today.

And at the end of another gratifying day, plans were made for the next visit to Kfaribnine and the team headed back home…
