SANA’s team headed to Aabdeh today for a medical/educational mission with Medecins Sans Frontieres. Accompanying SANA was trainee Dr. Esperance El Awad, a second year Ob/Gyn resident at the Lebanese University.

As usual, the clinic was packed with patients who were in their 3rd-6th months of pregnancy. SANA carried out full evaluations inclusive of obstetrical sonography. All patients were scanned by Dr. Esperance, under the guidance of SANA’s Reem S. Abu-Rustum, and she skillfully carried out the 6-Step approach and redated 42% of the patients seen.

As usual, there were several high risk patients in need of work up and follow up. MSF’s midwife Zeinab was instrumental in helping make all the necessary arrangements for the patients.

At the end of another rewarding day, the team headed back home with plans made for the next mission with MSF…
