SANA’s team returned to Dar Al Zahra’ in Abu-Samra today for a medical/educational mission with Medecins Sans Frontieres. Accompanying SANA was Dr. Lara Osmani, a second year Ob/Gyn resident at the Lebanese University who is participating in the Lebanon Basic Training Pilot course being carried out by SANA Medical NGO and Hopital Aboujaoude in cooperation with ISUOG.

 

It was a busy day where SANA’s team provided comprehensive prenatal care to a multitude of patients ranging in age between 17 and 40 years. In addition, SANA carried out full assessments on the patients and they were all scanned by Dr. Lara under the guidance of SANA’s Reem S. Abu-Rustum. Dr. Lara exemplified wonderful skill as she was able to carry out the 6-step approach and identify all key anatomic and biometric planes. SANA redated 25% of the patients seen today.

 

As always, MSF’s midwife Louiis accompanied SANA’s team and helped arrange follow ups for the patients and provided them with the needed supplements.

 

At the end of another rewarding day, the team headed back home and plans were made for the next visit with MSF…
